Knowledge ID


Academic and Research organizations have a unique identity and access management needs. The Research Council TRC has therefore recognized a need for a federated and distributed identity and access management system, both for its own and its partners’ systems, as well as for plugging in to international academic and research identity systems. TRC has decided on the Shibboleth framework, developed by the Internet2 community in the United States as the Federated Access Management components of KID, has embarked on implementing a federated identity and access management system, known as Knowledge Identification.

Shibboleth defines a common framework for access management that is being adopted by education and commercial sectors across the world.

How To Enroll


  • If you belong to an educational or research institution (university, college, etc.), your Knowledge ID is your internal institution, login if the institution is part of the Knowledge ID Federation.
  • If your institution is not yet part of the KID Federation, we are intending in the near future to allow it to be integrated. As for the time being we are currently dealing with local universities.
  • If you do not belong to an educational or research institution, or are a student or retired, we are intending in the near future to allow it to be included and facilitate application for a Research Council Knowledge ID.
